Akrim Mahouachi

Akrim Mahouachi is a French and Australian Registered Psychologist and Vocational Trainer. He is an approved Medicare Provider of Psychological Services and he is also an Accredited Mediator. Akrim is a member of the Australian Mediation Association (AMA).. Akrim is an experienced psychologist and vocational trainer who has worked with all age groups ranging from young children to the elderly. He has worked extensively with refugees and other survivors of trauma and is experienced in working with different cultures and ethnic groups. Akrim also has a background in social work and has a special interest in working with young people having issues integrating into society. He also works as a school counsellor and consultant for different NGO’s and Transcultural Mental Health Services. Akrim is also an ATAPS provider. Suzanne Smith

I am a Registered Psychologist with a General endorsement. I have teaching qualifications and psychology qualifications. Due to my qualifications below, I have had extensive experience with school aged children and adolescents for cognitive, learning and behavioural assessments. I enjoy working with all age groups, cultural and religious backgrounds although I only speak English. I also have an special interest in assisting with eating disorders.

I appreciate having good evidence based data to inform diagnosis and therapy direction, thus, assessment is a particular interest.

Dr Nigar Khawaja

Dr Nigar G Khawaja is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience of working with adults, who experience a range of emotional difficulties. Being multilingual, she can speak English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. She is available at Kuraby Wellness Centre on Saturdays. Nigar is a Professor of Clinical Psychology at a local university. She has published more than 95 articles in international peer reviewed journals. Her research focuses on improving the mental health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations. Nigar is registered with AHPRA, a Fellow of Australian Psychological Society and a Member of the College of Clinical Psychologists. She is also a Member of the International Academy of Intercultural Relations and a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy.

Dr Syed Alam

Being a responsible consultant psychiatrist, it is my ethical duty and a moral obligation to provide the best holistic care available to my patients by engendering mutual trust, developing a therapeutic partnership and treating them to the best of my ability under the best conditions possible.

Dr Alam is an Australian psychiatrist who attained “Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery” (MBBS) from Dow University of Health Science, Karachi in 2002. Following his internship in medicine, he started his psychiatric training in UK as a senior house officer at Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea. During this initial training, he participated and completed MRCPsych post graduate taught course from Cardiff Hospital, UK. An interest in general adult psychiatry led him to embark on his psychiatry registrar training before travelling to Australia to complete his fellowship. While in Australia, he was part of Northern Sydney Central Coast Area Health Services. Dr Alam, later moved to Queensland where he successfully completed his advance training whilst working at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane.

Dr Alam, started his specialist consultation from Tasmania. Upon his return to Brisbane, he accepted a clinical lead role at Metro North Queensland Health Services before Dr Alam deciding to devote himself in private practise.

Considering his keen interest in the field of research and teaching, Dr Alam was credited with an Associate Lecturer Position at University of Queensland. He has attended multiple courses to enhance his psychiatric skills including an observed distant education course on Human Cognitive Development from Harvard University, Cambridge USA.

Shareen Forsingdal

Shareen has over 20 years of experience practising as a Speech Pathologist privately and in health, community and education settings. She is an approved Medicare Provider and member of Speech Pathology Australia. She has primarily worked with young children and adolescents, but also worked with adult voice, dysfluency and both children and adults with language and literacy challenges. She has a mixed cultural heritage and has a special interest in working with those from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Shareen completed her Masters Degree in 2001 and conducted research focussed on ‘late talkers.’ She has also published research articles on working with families in goal setting and intervention in paediatric practise. She is also a mum of triplets and so also has a special interest in working with children from multiple births. Her other areas of practise include the following:

Suleman Bhagoo

Suleman has experience working in all areas of physiotherapy including neurological, cardiorespiratory And post-operative orthopaedic and general surgery. His main passion however, is in musculoskeletal physiotherapy – helping patient’s recover from injuries, manage their chronic pain and improve their quality of life. His treatments are focused on empowering patients to self-manage their own recovery through health education. He uses a combination of manual techniques including acupuncture for short term pain relief to facilitate pain-free exercise rehabilitation, helping patients recover faster. In his spare time, Suleman enjoys trying different sports and uses this knowledge of body biomechanics to inform his clinical practice.

Fitria Sari

Fitria Sari is an accredited practising dietitian (APD) with a Bachelor degree in Health Science (Nutrition and Dietetics) (Honours) from QUT. Fitria is a Bulk Billing practitioner. She is a food loving dietitian who thoroughly enjoys and is passionate about helping others achieve their health goals.

Fitria can assist with a variety of different health conditions including diabetes, iron deficiency, heart disease, food allergies/intolerances, bowel issues as well as general weight loss and healthy lifestyle advice.She understands that there is no one diet that fits all, and therefore provide personalised advice that is practical, culturally appropriate and tailored to each client’s needs.
